Pope at Mass: in the struggle between good and evil choose salvation

Pope Francis says that in all of us there is a constant struggle between grace and sin. He invites Christians to examine themselves at the end of the day and find out whether their decisions are “from the Lord” or are dictated “by the devil”.

Pope Francis is urging Christians to ask the Lord for the light to know well what is happening inside us. In his homily at Mass, Friday morning, at the Vatican’s Casa Santa Marta, he reflected on the First Reading where St. Paul speaks to the Romans about the continuous inner struggle inside him between the desire to do good and not being able to do it.

Amazon Synod Day 3: The drama of drug trafficking and the call to ecological conversion

The sixth General Congregation of the Special Synod of Bishops for the Amazon region took place in the afternoon of the 9th of October in the presence of Pope Francis. The Synod for the Amazon is taking place in the Vatican ‪until October the 27th.‬ 180 Synod Fathers were present in the Synod Hall.

The tragedy of drug trafficking and its consequences: this was one of the interventions discussed on Wednesday afternoon in the Synod Hall. In some areas of the Amazon region, the cultivation of coca has increased from 12 thousand to 23 thousand hectares. This has had a devastating effect on the rise in crime and on the upheaval of the natural equilibrium of a territory facing increased desertification.

Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to evangelize and change society, a Catholic bishop said.

Speaking at an assembly for Basic Ecclesial Communities, Bishop Roberto Gaa of Novaliches said that BECs are a dynamic force in the Church and in social renewal.
He urged the BEC workers not to belittle their work and contribution to the Church and their communities.
