Cardinal Tagle: There’s no room for individualism in evangelization

When it comes to evangelization and social communication, there is no room for individualism, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle said. 

The head of the Manila archdiocese warned that individualism weakens the very meaning of the church and its mission.

Focusing his remarks on the Christian’s relationship with God, the Pope noted that we are called to serve and love our brothers and sisters in the same way that God has done with us.

Pope to Filipino bishops: Love, pray for persecutors

Pope Francis reminded the Philippine bishops that they are called to imitate Christ by loving their enemies and praying for those who persecute them.

The pope assured the bishops, who recently went on pilgrimage to Rome, that he is aware of the Philippine situation and the issues the local Church is facing.

In spite of these, he said that the bishops are called to be pastors, even to politicians who are in conflict with the Church.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle and nunciature officials visited a synagogue in Makati City on Tuesday to celebrate tolerance and promote interfaith dialogue. 

It was the cardinal’s first visit to the Temple Emil of the Jewish Community in the Philippines, few days after he arrived from his recent “ad limina” trip to Rome.

Two Church leaders have denied any involvement in an alleged plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte. 

Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan said the allegation was “contrary” to his Christian conscience.
