A newly-ordained priest underlined the important truth that he and his fellow priests are not perfect, possessing a lot of flaws.

“If you think that a priest always comes from a perfect family, this is wrong. The reason why I came from an imperfect family is because that I am going to serve the imperfect Church. God gave me an imperfect family so that I can serve the imperfections of the Church,” said Fr. Joseph Franz Dizon, a priest of the Diocese of Malolos, as he celebrated his first Mass at the San Pascual Baylon Parish in his hometown Obando, Bulacan on March 20, Tuesday.

During a relaxed and informal meeting with seminarians and student priests on Friday, Pope Francis answered questions on priestly life and formation.

Pope Francis on Friday told seminarians and priests studying in Rome to care for their ongoing human and spiritual formation while being always open to the Holy Spirit. The seminarians and student priests who come from around the world for ecclesiastical studies, reside in the pontifical colleges and ecclesiastical boarding schools of the city.

The Philippine government’s intention to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) provides strong basis for investigation into its ruthless war on drugs, Catholic bishops said.

The withdrawal comes about a month after the court opened an investigation into the alleged extrajudicial killings and other atrocities committed under President Rodrigo Duterte’s crackdown on illegal narcotics trade.
