JESUS DEPARTURE; COMING OF THE ADVOCATE JOHN 16:23-24

THE PRAYER OF JESUS JOHN JOHN 17:20-26

Luke
Chapter 6

12
3 In those days he departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer 4 to God.
13
When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, 5 whom he also named apostles:
14
Simon, whom he named Peter, 6 and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
15
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, 7
16
and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, 8 who became a traitor.

Luke
Chapter 10

17
The seventy (-two) returned rejoicing, and said, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us because of your name."
18
Jesus said, "I have observed Satan fall like lightning 8 from the sky.
19
Behold, I have given you the power 'to tread upon serpents' and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you.
20
Nevertheless, do not rejoice because the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice because your names are written in heaven."

Luke
Chapter 19

1 He came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.
2
Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man,
3
was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.
4
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
5
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house."
6
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
7
When they all saw this, they began to grumble, saying, "He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner."
8
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over."
9
2 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.

John
Chapter 16

23
On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
24
Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

John
Chapter 17

20
"I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
21
so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.
22
And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one,
23
I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.
24
Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am 7 they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
25
Righteous Father, the world also does not know you, but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
26
I made known to them your name and I will make it known, 8 that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in them."

SIRACH: DUTIES TOWARDS GOD

Sirach
Chapter 2

1
1 My son, when you come to serve the LORD, prepare yourself for trials.
2
Be sincere of heart and steadfast, undisturbed in time of adversity.
3
Cling to him, forsake him not; thus will your future be great.
4
Accept whatever befalls you, in crushing misfortune be patient;

17
Those who fear the LORD prepare their hearts and humble themselves before him.
