31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit upon his glorious throne,
32 and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34Then the king will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,
36naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’
37Then the righteous* will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
38When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’
40 And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
41Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,
43a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
44 Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’
45He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’
46 And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

2 “There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.
3Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.
4I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more.
5I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that one.
7Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.
8I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.
9But whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.

12 On the next day, when the great crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
“Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord,
[even] the king of Israel.”
14Jesus found an ass and sat upon it, as is written:
see, your king comes, seated upon an ass’s colt.”
16His disciples did not understand this at first, but when Jesus had been glorified they remembered that these things were written about him and that they had done this* for him.
17* So the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from death continued to testify.
18This was [also] why the crowd went to meet him, because they heard that he had done this sign.
19So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the whole world has gone after him.”

Exhortation to Preparedness
11Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought [you] to be, conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion,
12waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire.
13But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth* in which righteousness dwells.
14Therefore, beloved, since you await these things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace.
15And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you,
16speaking of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures.
17Therefore, beloved, since you are forewarned, be on your guard not to be led into the error of the unprincipled and to fall from your own stability.
