THE QUESTION ABOUT THE RESURRECTION - LUKE 20:34-40
GODS JUDGEMENT  - ROMANS 2:7-8
DEPENDENCE ON GOD  - LUKE 12:22-31
THE PARABLE OF THE RICH MAN AND LAZARUS  -  LUKE 16:19-31
THE HEALING OF GERASENE DEMONIAC - LUKE 8:31-39

Luke
Chapter 20

34
Jesus said to them, "The children of this age marry and remarry;
35
but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.
36
They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise. 9
37
That the dead will rise even Moses made known in the passage about the bush, when he called 'Lord' the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;
38
and he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive."
39
Some of the scribes said in reply, "Teacher, you have answered well."
40
And they no longer dared to ask him anything.

Romans
Chapter 2

7
eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works,
8
but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness.
9
Yes, affliction and distress will come upon every human being who does evil, Jew first and then Greek.
10
But there will be glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, Jew first and then Greek.
11
4 There is no partiality with God.

Luke
Chapter 12

22
He said to (his) disciples, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life and what you will eat, or about your body and what you will wear.
23
For life is more than food and the body more than clothing.
24
Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than birds!
25
Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your lifespan?
26
If even the smallest things are beyond your control, why are you anxious about the rest?
27
Notice how the flowers grow. They do not toil or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of them.
28
If God so clothes the grass in the field that grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
29
As for you, do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not worry anymore.
30
All the nations of the world seek for these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
31
Instead, seek his kingdom, and these other things will be given you besides.

Luke
Chapter 16

19
12 "There was a rich man 13 who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.
20
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
21
who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man's table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.
22
When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried,
23
and from the netherworld, 14 where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
24
And he cried out, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.'
25
Abraham replied, 'My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.
26
Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.'
27
He said, 'Then I beg you, father, send him to my father's house,
28
for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.'
29
But Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.'
30
15 He said, 'Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31
Then Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'"

Romans
Chapter 8

31
8 What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32
He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?
33
Who will bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who acquits us.
34
Who will condemn? It is Christ (Jesus) who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.
35
What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?
36
As it is written: "For your sake we are being slain all the day; we are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered."
37
No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us.
38
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, 9 nor future things, nor powers,
39
nor height, nor depth, 10 nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Luke
Chapter 8

31
And they pleaded with him not to order them to depart to the abyss. 11
32
A herd of many swine was feeding there on the hillside, and they pleaded with him to allow them to enter those swine; and he let them.
33
The demons came out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
34
When the swineherds saw what had happened, they ran away and reported the incident in the town and throughout the countryside.
35
People came out to see what had happened and, when they approached Jesus, they discovered the man from whom the demons had come out sitting at his feet. 12 He was clothed and in his right mind, and they were seized with fear.
36
Those who witnessed it told them how the possessed man had been saved.
37
The entire population of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them because they were seized with great fear. So he got into a boat and returned.
38
The man from whom the demons had come out begged to remain with him, but he sent him away, saying,
39
"Return home and recount what God has done for you." The man went off and proclaimed throughout the whole town what Jesus had done for him.

THE WISDOM BOOKS AND GOSPEL

Psalms
Chapter 1
1
1 2 Happy those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked, Nor go the way of sinners, nor sit in company with scoffers.
2
3 Rather, the law of the LORD is their joy; God's law they study day and night.

Psalms
Chapter 9

8
The LORD rules forever, has set up a throne for judgment.
9
It is God who governs the world with justice, who judges the peoples with fairness.
10
The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, stronghold in times of trouble.
11
Those who honor your name trust in you; you never forsake those who seek you, LORD.
