Diocesan event highlights Church’s evangelizing aspect

MANILA, Jan. 26, 2013—An annual event in Paranaque diocese will gather once again members of different youth groups to discuss and deepen among them the evangelizing role of the Church.
Slated on February 9 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Rogationist Seminary in Parañaque City, the youth gathering will have as focus of discussion the aspect of apostolicity of the Catholic Church.

Titled “Uno Per Cristo”, the 4th run of the youth event aims to make the youth of the diocese understand what Rock Solid means.

“We will be explaining the four aspects we want for the youth to take into heart. These are, Rock Solid Head who is Christ, who commissioned Rock Solid Men who are the Apostles, in turn passed it down to the College of Bishops, bringing together the lay and the clergy, we have a Rock Solid Church,” organizers said in an email interview.
“With these aspects, we have a Rock Solid Church, with one Rock Solid Mission which is to proclaim the cause of Christ to the ends of the earth,” they added.

This year’s event will not just gather members of trans-parochial youth groups but also other young people within the diocese.

“We are trying a different formula this year. Since it is the Year of Faith and the Year of the Eucharist in our diocese, we will be opening it to all the youth in the diocese. And this year, we will celebrate it in a form of a praise concert,” organizers furthered.
Uno Per Cristo (UPC) started as a gathering for all trans-parochial youth groups to make them appreciate their respective parishes and share their charisma to help the Mother Church.

Celebrated annually, the gathering has eventually opened its door not just to members of trans-parochial youth groups but also to youth leaders of all organizations and the commission on youth of all parishes in the diocese.

The previous activities of UPC focused on the topics of One, Holy and Catholic respectively. (Jandel Posion/CBCPNews)
